Brand Spotlight: DeskMakers
We recently had the chance to speak with Blanca Sauceda, Director of Marketing at DeskMakers, to learn more about the brand and what makes them unique:

Tell us the history of your brand:
We’re headquartered in Los Angeles where the company was founded in 1964. Our current owner and CEO Phil Polishook, purchased the company in 2003. We’ve seen a lot of growth over the years, most recently with the acquisition of the Scale 1:1 brand (2019) and our new factory in Dallas. We’ve come a long way and are well known for our custom-capabilities and attention to detail. We have a very robust selection of products, sizes, configurations and an endless array of finish and material options which our customers appreciate.
What serves as inspiration when creating new products?
First and foremost, the needs of our customers and enabling them to achieve their design vision. Secondly, our environment. Our incredible team of designers, including Scale 1:1 founder David Winston, are often inspired by our location in California, the trends they see in the industry, and the functional needs of the ever-changing office space.
Who are your products designed for?
Our products are designed for end-users looking for tailored solutions and design-flexibility. We’re mostly seen in the mid-market office space but our products also lend well to higher education, government, healthcare and retail markets. Our Scale 1:1 brand has seen success in the tech space, hospitality and residential.
Describe the process your team goes through when creating a new product:

We have a very open and collaborative development process. At times, it can feel like things take longer because of it, but for the most part, our best collections come from a design idea taking a life of its own based on team member feedback. As a company, we encourage innovation, opinion sharing, questioning of ideas, and even conflict, as it tends to lead to some really fun projects. Once we move forward with an idea, it moves along the traditional development channels of design, engineering, testing, marketing, and sales.
Where are your products manufactured?

We love being headquartered in Los Angeles where most of our products are manufactured but we’re also very excited about the recent opening of our factory in Dallas and are excited to bring some great things to the Texas market and beyond.
What’s unique about DeskMakers is our ability to provide our customers with customization and attention to detail, providing our customers with tailored solutions to meet their design needs. We provide each customer with a dedicated DeskMakers team throughout the entire process, from initial quote request, through install and beyond to reorders.
